The church got its baroque image in the second quarter of the 18th century thanks to the Miglio barons, the owners of the Plumberk mansion (precursor of the Novo Celje mansion), especially the baron Franc Miglio. The Petrovče church as it is today gives a monumental impression, especially its fascinating front with a majestic main entrance and elegant steeple. The church is 37.5m long, its face is 19.45m wide and its nave is 13m tall. There are four chapels along the left and right side.
The third chapel to the left features the well-known Plainer’s Altar from 1605, which is the oldest Slovenian wooden Renaissance altar.
The Petrovče church is not only incredibly beautiful and priceless as a work of art, but is also an important place of pilgrimage.
